How do I get a "dot.com" name for my website?

The majority of our design packages include FREE Domain Name registration(s) as part of the package (Mall Stores, Shops & BizCards). These can also operate a couple of different ways depending on what level of service you desire.

We can purchase names from just about any Domain Name Registrar you might desire. The general recommendations are

  • dot.com (for commercial) is your best bet. dot.info, dot.biz, dot.US (country) maybe but better as an "add on" strategy to a dot.com primary. Otherwise...
  • dot.net (networks or groups)
  • dot.org (organizations & not for profit groups)
  • Try to avoid the "-" dash urge. Like most folks will dry .com first, they won't pick up on the -dash either
  • if all else fails, we can do something more desparate like yourbiz.westilmall.com
    for you dot-com-long-gone-itis folks.

A "Mall Store" is just our easy to understand terminology for what you expect from a premium level, full business website: true web hosting with full email account capabilities.

For "Mall Shops" and Mall "BizCards" the affore mentioned choices are available except for the .us which carries a premium surcharge.

Mall Shops and BizCards utilize "domain name forwarding". Think of them as "800" numbers for your real phone number: When your customer types in "yourdomain.com" and the page at WestILMall.com/yourdomain will be displayed.

As an added perk we also will forward email@yourdomain.com to your_current_email@your_provider.com. Whether you host a full website, or just our affordable more than a parking page BizCard-site,You can begin giving your customers your permanent "dot.com" address today !

And with the new upgraded hosting most of these rules are hardly cast in stone, more to taste and certainly now not even an expense to us which path we send you. Maybe the dirty little secret of web design but dot.coms are dirt cheap ($10 bucks a year at most more often then not) which is why so many good ones are squatted on, and now our hosting to go with really has no physical added cost, just minor what each fair share of usage amounts to. But as much as we love working with fellow business and watching them grow I suspect you do what you do for an income and so we make a half hearted attempt at some sort of logical fee structure even if the physical requirments are insanely over powered yet embarasingly frugle on our pocket book.

Don't avoid talking with us because you fear your pocket book is thin and don't assume because you have an embarrasingly large budget that we won't get you far more bang for the buck then blowing it somewhere else. Either way we love a challenge whether it is a power BizCard that kicks most full site's behind or for the fun of it designing a database management system from scratch (we have a corn harvest ticketing and field yield reporting tool we build just because we could and were bored one day. We update it via cell phone in real time even!)

Warping something expensive and half way to your liking is not a real challenge or the real challenge. Oddly thinking like you, getting under your customer's skin and coming up with concepts that make ¢ents is what so many others miss the target on.

Coming up with a domain name concept and product identifying additional domain strategies is the true cost. Acting on the name is the far cheapest part and where, well we have choices, not your itemized cost in any package but do be sure if you register with others, you own the rights to the name part, don't be a hostage.
